Architect's office Consoni Beat AG

The new Thurgau University of Teacher Education was built next to two modern buildings dating from 2008 and blends harmoniously into the existing campus. The opening of new courses at the university has also increased the need for additional space. The winning design by the architectural firm Consoni impressed the jury with its urban planning, functional and economic aspects. The campus was expanded to include new classrooms for continuing education, design, home economics and media education. This allowed the number of students to be increased from 350 to 800. 

The shell of the building is made of 2/3 recycled concrete according to ecological criteria (recycled concrete and conventional concrete have a similar price). Not surprisingly, a Fural metal ceiling was chosen to meet the needs and requirements of sustainable construction. The KLH-H expanded metal ceiling was used for optimal acoustic performance. The finishes in off-white tones (NCS N 500 S) is a unique complement to the raw concrete of the walls and columns and the white interior finishes. The whole, with excellent cooperation with the company Röösli AG, gives a wonderful monochrome picture.
