Highest Swiss quality in a modern ambience
After almost 960 days of construction, the new Thermoplan building in Weggis, in the canton of Lucerne, was officially opened on 22 June 2024. Thermoplan is a manufacturer of fully automatic coffee machines and stands for the highest Swiss quality with a modern design for demanding use in the catering industry. The family business supplies customers in over 80 countries.
The new building in Weggis impresses with modern architecture combined with innovative design, from the light-flooded entrance area and the company's own café to the highly modern production spaces.
Focus on the architecture
KLG linear panels in 0.7 mm and perforation Rv 3.0-20%, in the special colour IGP grey smooth, deep matt, with black insert, were manufactured especially for this project. Due to the requirements of the building, the panels had to be manufactured in a special rhombus shape with angles of 52.02° and 127.98° in order to meet the architectural requirements.
Customised individual pieces manufactured to fit perfectly
The assembly of these cassettes also required a system that was specially developed by Metalit. ‘The challenge was to give the system stability,’ says project manager Srdjan Jarakovic, ‘as the panels had both open and closed sides at the edges. Despite the challenge, the panels could be joined together perfectly. A perfect example of how functionality and aesthetics go hand in hand. Another advantage is that the KLG longspan cassettes can be opened and closed without tools.
