Sustainable New Construction for the Largest Secondary School in the Traunstein District

After 35 years, the Staatliche Realschule Trostberg, the largest secondary school in the Traunstein district, was completely rebuilt.
A new construction instead of renovation turned out to be the most economical solution, as confirmed by the feasibility study.
Without disrupting the daily school routine of nearly 900 students, the roughly €32 million project was completed over a three-year construction period.

The new school complex consists of three compact, three-storey buildings. Interconnected outdoor spaces blend the cubic structures into one cohesive layout. Equipped with a photovoltaic system including battery storage, the building is supplied with heat from adjacent industrial zones. The entire complex was built without using composite materials.
To meet further ecological standards, the school also includes nesting boxes for swifts and flower strips to support biodiversity.

Certified Metal Acoustic Ceilings by Fural

To ensure a comfortable atmosphere, support maximum student concentration and performance, and improve room acoustics, Fural metal acoustic ceilings were installed throughout the facility.

This impressive and environmentally friendly project was successfully delivered in 2022 by Haydn Oberneder under the site management of Günther Kimböck, in collaboration with Spreen Architekten.

In addition to Fural’s quality, the strict adherence to timelines was particularly appreciated, allowing the move into the new school building to take place during the holiday break.
