The Edge

With the highest ever BREEAM score of 98.36 %, “The Edge” is the most sustainable building in the world. The 40,000 m² office building in Amsterdam’s Zuidas district was developed by the architect team PLP. The building produces more energy than is consumed, all building functions are networked, functions such as lighting or temperature can be individually controlled via mobile phone app. For the approx. 2,500 employees of the main tenant Deloitte, a working environment has been created, which focuses on well-being. Employees can actively choose their work setting based on mood, atmosphere and task, thereby establishing the best preconditions for increased productivity.

The ceiling design plays a significant role here. In all, 28,000 m² of strip grid tiles with French Hook were installed by FURAL. The integrated door - wire hinges enable convenient hinged opening for maintenance purposes. Cooling mats integrated in the ceiling tiles ensure an optimum room temperature, while the perforation Rg 2,5 - 16 % delivers acoustic comfort in “The Edge”.
