Königsleiten mountain railway
Stöckl, Egger & Partner/Kufstein, 2010
The new valley station of the Bergbahnen Königsleiten cable railway was built at 1600 metres above sea level. The new cable cars replace the two double chair lifts in Königsleiten, running via a halfway station almost to the summit of the Königsleitenspitze. The architect team from Stöckl Egger & Partner (Kitzbühel/Saalfelden) adapted the plans to the special weather conditions in the area. Wind and weather stability were a top priority in implementation of the design. The cantilevered floating roof in the entrance area gives the visitors an impression of lightness and spaciousness, hence preparing them for a special experience on the mountain.
1100 long-span tiles with powder coating in outdoor quality were used for the design of the outdoor floating roof. The tiles are equipped with thee clipping points on the front side for additional wind protection.
